Spring Trip Part III

The last day of spring trip we visited a village school. Although this school was only a short distance this was a pretty rural school. My students had brought some balls and play things for the students to play with. We started the visit with a short program, my students sang and the school students had quite a few interesting performances. Afterwards we gave them the gifts and then played together. The little children made quite an impression on my students. It was a really great time.

After lunch we divided into groups of five or six and went with various villagers to learn about their life. Some groups learned about raising water buffaloes, some cut a trail through the "woods", others worked in the vegetable fields. I learned about growing rice and that process. She already had all the rice planted so there wasn't much to do but we certainly learned a lot about the work involved. Then we went back to her house and saw the process of getting the hull off the grain. The students used their Chinese to understand and ask questions and overall it was a very positive experience.
